Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar is a set of Yoga Poses which gives you the benefits of all the poses/asanas that are performed separately.
If you lack the time and want the benefit of all asanas then this is the best to do, the sun salutation, meaning Surya Namaskar.
You can do it early morning or in the evening but the best time is before Sunrise. Our body absorbs the holy powers from the sun(sun is treated as god as it brings life to earth). We do this in the morning when the sun is about to rise.It is just a 12 step exercise with chanting some mantra at each step.
